Klas Telecom Announces VMware vSAN Support for Voyager Tactical Data Center (Voyager TDC)

Klas Telecom announced today that, after rigorous testing, VMware now supports vSAN™ hyper-converged infrastructure on the Klas Telecom Voyager Tactical Data Center (TDC), a low size, weight and power (SWaP), enterprise-grade compute and data storage network system that is easily deployable and purpose-built for tactical environments. The new VMware vSAN validation includes support for NVMe and builds on Voyager TDC receiving VMware Ready™ status for VMware vSphere® last year. Now, VMware will support vSAN, vSphere and vCenter in production deployments and will work with customers to approve their configurations.

“We are happy to work with customers to validate their vSAN deployment of choice, indicating our commitment to supporting any modern infrastructure, deployed anywhere,” VMware Vice President, Storage and Availability, Lee Caswell said. “We want our customers to feel confident that their infrastructure will just work, so they can focus on more important things. We are also highly committed to supporting America’s service men and women and first responders with the tools they need to accomplish their mission.”

Voyager TDC + vSAN

By using Voyager TDC with VMware vSphere and vSAN, organizations can rapidly and easily deploy an enterprise-grade storage and compute network in the size of an airline carry-on rollaway case so users can access, collect, store, process, analyze and disseminate high volumes of data locally, or in theater, rather than having to rely on bandwidth-constrained backhaul to access an offsite data center. Voyager TDC is designed to military ruggedization standards and provides the highest compute performance per watt and storage per cubic inch than any other solution available in both the tactical and enterprise markets.

Voyager TDC simplifies deployments, saves resources and lowers total cost of ownership by dramatically reducing the expenses associated with deploying, maintaining and upgrading large, complicated systems. Voyager TDC reduces hardware footprint by replacing hundreds of pounds of traditionally-deployed server room equipment with a single 63 lb case. Voyager TDC simplifies transportation and logistics as the system can be hand carried and users do not have to rely on expensive, dedicated military shipping that can encounter delays. With Voyager TDC, users can guarantee communications availability leading to mission success.

vSAN’s high-performance, software-defined architecture provides market leading innovation that revolutionizes IT through enabling evolution without risk, reducing TCO and scaling for tomorrow.
