Lorne Gertner Joins GreenTree International Board of Directors

Pioneer in Cannabis Industry Brings Invaluable Insight and Experience to the Team

DENVER, May 23, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Green Tree International, parent company of Amercanex, proudly welcomes Lorne Gertner as the newest member of the Board of Directors. Gertner is one of Canada's most prominent leaders in the cannabis community, specializing in start-up companies, public offerings, architecture, fashion and finance, as well as cannabis investments.

"Lorne has been called the 'Godfather' of cannabis for his work in the marijuana sphere," says Amercanex CEO Steve Janjic. "Over the past fifteen years, he has helped shape the industry's focus towards lifestyle design and branding and worked to usher in a new era for the Canadian cannabis marketplace."

Gertner serves as the CEO of Hill and Gertner Capital Corp., a Toronto-based merchant bank with holdings ranging from architecture to retail space. He serves on the board of Hiku Brands Company, a portfolio of internationally recognized cannabis brands including Tokyo Smoke, DOJA and Van der Pop. He plans to strategically integrate Amercanex's offerings into areas of his global businesses.

"We're extremely pleased to welcome the newest member to our board," says Richard Schaeffer, Amercanex Chairman. "His expertise in cannabis, design and branding will offer a new perspective to our team."

An interest in cannabis business investments began in 2004, when Gertner founded Cannasat Pharmaceuticals, the first company to hold a Canadian license for growing medical marijuana as well as the first medical marijuana business to be listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. He also co-founded and served as the Chairman of PharmaCan Capital (now Cronos), Canada's first publicly traded merchant bank for participants in the medical marijuana sector.

"Lorne's ability to understand the intricacies facing the cannabis marketplace are invaluable to our team, especially as Canada prepares to legalize marijuana this year," says Dennis Garces, President of International Markets. "We couldn't be happier to welcome him to Amercanex."

Gertner currently serves on the board of Emblem Corp, Green Acre Capital and the Design Exchange. He graduated from the University of Toronto's Daniel School of Architecture Landscape with a Bachelor of Architecture.
