Sea-Land Chemical Company and Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP Expand Distribution Relationship to Include Normal Alpha Olefins

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP (“Chevron Phillips Chemical”), a global leader in the production of olefin and polyolefin chemistries, and Sea-Land Chemical Company, a leading specialty chemical distributor, have expanded their collaboration to include the AlphaPlus® brand of normal alpha olefins. Sea-Land Chemical Company will strategically target distribution to customers requiring small volume drum quantities. The distribution agreement between the two companies will cover the entire U.S. and Canadian territories.

“We are excited for the opportunity to represent the AlphaPlus® brand of chemistries in North America,” said Jennifer Altstadt, president of Sea-Land Chemical Company. “As the channel distributor for the Synfluid® polyalphaolefin products since 2006, we are well positioned to build upon our strong relationship with Chevron Phillips Chemical and provide another range of high quality products to our customers."

Normal alpha olefins, featuring highly accessible terminal double bonds, are ideal materials for manufacturing numerous products. Normal alpha olefins or their derivatives are used extensively as polyethylene comonomers, plasticizers, synthetic motor oils, lubricants, automotive additives, surfactants, paper size, and in a wide range of specialty applications. As major petrochemical building blocks, their use in the development of new chemical products is virtually unlimited.

“Sea-Land’s expertise in representing a wide range of chemical suppliers and overall application and product knowledge allows us another avenue to pursue sales opportunities for our AlphaPlus® NAO product line,” said Kevin Hendryx, Americas Sales Manager, NAO of Chevron Phillips Chemical. “Our products are used in a wide range of specialty chemical applications where the volumes involved can be at the drum/packaged level. We are excited to have Sea-Land, with their technically trained sales team and customer-focused attitude, manage the complexity of these key customers.”
