airBaltic Orders up to 60 Bombardier C Series Aircraft Powered by Pratt & Whitney’s GTF Engine

Bombardier and airBaltic announced this week a contract order for 30 Pratt & Whitney GTF-powered CS300 aircraft, with options and purchase rights for an additional 30 aircraft.  This order now makes airBaltic the largest C Series customer in Europe.

“We are thrilled to see the expansion of the C Series fleet, and trust the airBaltic pilots and passengers are enjoying the enhanced experience of the GTF-powered aircraft,” said Rick Deurloo, senior vice president of sales, marketing and customer support at Pratt & Whitney.  “As the launch operator of the CS300 platform, we appreciate airBaltic’s continued confidence in Pratt & Whitney with this latest order.  Congratulations to Bombardier and airBaltic.”

AirBaltic placed its first order of GTF-powered aircraft in 2012, of which eight aircraft are currently in service and 12 aircraft are yet to be delivered.  To date, their fleet has flown more than 50,000 engine flight hours, transporting over 1 million passengers to 60+ destinations.  The aircraft delivers up to 20% reduction in fuel consumption, 75% reduction in noise footprint, and 50% reduction in NOx emissions to CAEP/6.
