Accenture Federal Services Receives 2018 Cogswell Award for Outstanding Industrial Security Practices

Accenture (NYSE: ACN) today announced that Accenture Federal Services has been awarded the 2018 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award from the U.S. Department of Defense, Defense Security Service (DSS).

Accenture Federal Services received the award in recognition of its outstanding leadership in establishing best practices while maintaining the highest standards for security at its Arlington, Virginia, corporate headquarters office and a branch office in San Diego, California.

The Cogswell Award is the highest recognition a company can receive for the handling of classified information with integrity, discretion and proven reliability, signifying outstanding achievement in matters related exclusively to a facility’s security program. Accenture Federal Services is one of 39 recipients of this year’s award from a field of more than 13,300 cleared defense contractor facilities.

“This recognition from DSS is a great honor and reflects the hard work, dedication and commitment of our Accenture Federal Services security team and the people across our business,” said John Goodman, chief executive, Accenture Federal Services. “As the security landscape constantly shifts, we are proud to collaborate with DSS to protect the national security interests of the country and help our clients strengthen their security posture. Our state-of-the-art security program is a team effort and reflects the integrated, collaborative way that we work. We are committed to pursuing the highest standards for security in everything we do.”

In selecting Cogswell Award candidates, a national review team competitively ranks the closely vetted nominees, with DSS making the final award selections. To be considered for the Cogswell Award, a facility must have two consecutive superior industrial security review ratings, which show a sustained degree of excellence and innovation in the management, implementation and oversight of its overall security program.

The award was established in 1966 in honor of the late Air Force Col. James S. Cogswell, the first chief of industrial security within the Department of Defense. Cogswell was responsible for developing the basic principles of the Industry Security Program, which include an emphasis on the partnership between industry and government to protect classified information.
