Upmood works when worn on the wrist, like a watch, and it uses an algorithm that turns biometric data into analytics through Bluetooth connection with the app to show users their stress level, heart rate, vitality levels and emotion. The accompanying app sends users a detailed summary of their emotions and tracks their emotional progress and trends over time to give insight on what makes them their best self. It also allows users to view their friends' and family members' emotions and share emoji stickers through the Upmood app to spark conversation about emotions.

Upmood also uses a mood stream, mood calendar and mood feed. The mood stream is always live and can detect an emotion within two minutes. The mood feed shows other connections' live emotions, and the mood calendar serves as the user's record for their daily emotions.
