WEST HAVEN, Conn., Sept. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The University of New Haven announced today that it has been ranked in the top half of institutions in the country in the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education's 2018 college rankings.

The University moved up on the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education list this year, reaching its highest ranking yet. The University was ranked especially high in the "environment" category, which examines such factors as student and faculty diversity, proportion of international students, and student inclusion.

As part of their rankings, the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education rated 968 colleges and universities across the country, asking 10,000 academics, chosen at random, to vote for the best research and teaching universities. The results also include survey responses from students, including more than 240 from the University of New Haven.

"Being recognized by the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education is a testament to our diverse and vibrant student body as well as our talented faculty and staff," said University of New Haven President Steven H. Kaplan. "It is especially gratifying to see the ranking acknowledge the innovative learning environment and close-knit campus community we strive to create for our students and the important role they have in our students' success."

The University was ranked 472nd overall. This ranking comes on the heels of the University's welcoming its second largest incoming class in its 99-year history, which includes students from across the United States as well as 16 different countries.
