Mega Industries Corporation Becomes 100% Employee Owned

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- After more than 25 years in business, Mega Industries Corporation, a Kansas City-owned construction company, is now 100 percent employee owned through an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP).

President and CEO Brian Gordon and Chief Operating Officer Craig Bridgeman sold their shares to the corporation earlier this year. Headquartered in North Kansas City, MO, Mega is unique in that they are a heavy highway contractor based on the Merit Shop philosophy and are entirely employee-owned. All 60 employees, including their skilled tradesmen, are now able to invest in the growth of the company by acquiring shares of stock to accumulate retirement assets.

"Our most valuable resource at Mega has always been our people. This is a way we can give back to them for their work over the years," said Gordon.

He added that the ESOP not only would reward employees, but also support the company culture and provide a foundation for future growth.

"We feel that employee-ownership provides everyone at the company a tangible incentive and reward to continue the work that has brought us success over the years."

With the leadership of Gordon, Bridgeman, and newly appointed Vice President Tyler Wesselman, Mega Industries aims for even more success under the new model.

"As part of the leadership team, I'm proud to help guide this organization forward," said Wesselman. "Our philosophy at Mega has always been that 'together we can do it all.' This employee-ownership model was a natural next step for us."
