Tachi-S Enhances North American Automotive Seat Testing Capabilities
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Oct. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Tachi-S Engineering USA, a global leader in automotive seating, has recently made major enhancements to its seat testing capabilities in North America.
To provide improved environmental condition testing, the company has added two new Weisstechnik Environmental Chambers, one walk-in and one cabinet, to its Farmington Hills, Michigan location. The chambers enable high/low temperature, high/low humidity, rapid temperature change rates, or combined environmental testing.
"The new walk-in chamber enables an improved temperature range of -73-degrees Celsius to 180-degrees Celsius and a humidity range of 20% to 95% relative humidity," said Chris Hyde, Director of Testing & Prototyping. "This will enable us to provide an expanded range of environmental testing to our customers."
The two new environmental chambers are the latest in a series of enhancements that began with the addition of a new Seattle Safety Servo Sled in the Tachi-S Aguascalientes, Mexico test facility. The first of its kind to be deployed in Mexico, the sled simulates conditions during automotive collisions including front, rear, offset and side impacts.
The company has also recently reconfigured its airbag deployment testing area with all new camera, lighting and viewing equipment.
