MOBI Study Reveals AI-Driven Automation is #1 Enterprise Mobility Priority Over Next Five Years

INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Mobility Management Software (MMS) leader MOBI today announced the findings of a survey exploring the current and future state of enterprise mobility. Major themes like automation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and security emerged as IT decision makers' most dominant, top-of-mind investments over the next five years.

Businesses Understand Mobile Management is a Must
Most respondents felt their organizations were ahead of the curve with respect to enterprise mobility -- especially those who work at large global enterprises. Specifically:
1. Companies use an average of three different solutions to manage enterprise mobility
a. The most common solution is Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM)
b. However, larger companies (more than 10,000 employees) tend to use one fewer solution to manage mobility
2. More than three quarters -- 76 percent -- of companies use an MMS vendor to support mobility
a. Small and medium-sized businesses are more likely than large enterprises to employ MMS
3. In terms of company-owned versus personally-owned devices:
a. Large enterprises are more likely than SMBs to manage a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program (47 percent vs. 33 percent)
i. 78 percent of enterprises with BYOD policies use an MMS and/or Telecom Expense Management (TEM) platform to manage the program
ii. 70 percent of enterprises with BYOD policies plan to increase their use of BYOD

AI Takes Center Stage in Enterprise Mobility
The survey results showed that automation is a focus of almost every enterprise mobility agenda, with 88 percent of companies either currently deploying it (38 percent) or planning to do so soon (50 percent). Taking a closer look at these findings:
1. Automation is further ahead at large companies -- 49 percent of these organizations are currently deploying initiatives compared to only 27 percent of small and medium-sized businesses
2. Among those who have actively deployed automation:
a. 42 percent have programs that are fully implemented
b. 21 percent are currently expanding their automation programs
c. 37 percent are still in the piloting phase
3. Of those who have automation projects currently underway, 75 percent said they are already seeing ROI while 21 percent said it was too early to tell
4. AI/cognitive-driven automation is seen as the top investment priority for enterprise mobility over the next five years, topping security which was seen as the second top-priority

Enterprise Mobility in 2020
When asked where enterprise mobility is headed by 2020, respondents predicted that:
1. 65 percent of knowledge workers at Fortune 1000 companies will be on 5G
2. 57 percent believe Fortune 1000 companies will build AI/machine learning technology into their enterprise mobility strategy
3. 59 percent of knowledge workers at Fortune 1000 companies will use a device other than a desktop or laptop to complete most of their work
4. 53 percent of knowledge workers at Fortune 1000 companies will use at least three devices for business purposes

"One of the biggest takeaways from this survey is that IT decision makers understand the enterprise mobility landscape is changing," said Josh Garrett, president and co-founder of MOBI. "AI and 5G are no longer just futuristic concepts -- they're taking shape in businesses today and changing how we work. What businesses now need to focus on is how to manage an evolving mobile ecosystem."
