Puente Hills Volkswagen Highlights the 2018 Passat's Upgraded Four-Cylinder Engine
CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif., Oct. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Puente Hills Volkswagen is educating the City of Industry community about the changes made to the Volkswagen Passat for the 2018 model year. The 2018 Passat's standard four-cylinder engine is more powerful and fuel efficient than its 2017 predecessor. Other 2018 additions include a new trim level and an optional driver assistance package.
The 2018 Passat's 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine produces 174 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. This engine received Environmental Protection Agency fuel economy ratings of 25 miles per gallon in the city, 36 miles per gallon on the highway and a combined efficiency score of 29 miles per gallon. In comparison, the 2017 Passat had an output of 170 horsepower and received a combined city/highway EPA rating of 27 miles per gallon.
Six trim levels exist for the 2018 Volkswagen Passat: S, R-Line, SE, SE w/technology, GT and SEL Premium. The GT trim is new for 2018, and adds sport-tuned suspension, 19-inch wheels and a 3.6-liter V-6 engine (280 horsepower, 258 pound-feet of torque) paired with a six-speed automatic transmission system. Standard 2018 Passat features include a rearview camera, automatic headlights, Bluetooth connectivity, dual-zone automatic climate control and 60/40-split folding rear seating.
An optional Driver Assistance package is available for the 2018 Volkswagen Passat. This package adds technology features such as a forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking system, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. This package is available as an option for 2018 Passat S models and comes standard with all other trims. Other driver aids are added for SEL Premium models, including a lane departure warning system and an automated parallel-parking system.
