CardinalCommerce Announces First Live EMV® 3-D Secure Transactions

MENTOR, Ohio, Oct. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- CardinalCommerce completed its first series of EMV® 3-D Secure transactions with three major payment networks--American Express, Mastercard and Visa. The transactions are the company's first to be successfully completed using EMV 3-D Secure technology leveraging the 2.1 protocol with real cardholders on live merchant websites, without the use of test accounts or simulators. The transactions were completed as part of an early adopter program where merchants and issuers have enabled EMV 3-D Secure using CardinalCommerce's solutions.

Cardinal's early adopter merchant and issuer launches enable 3-D Server and Access Control Server integrations of EMV 3DS in the market. The Cardinal Authentication Network is ready to implement EMV 3-D Secure so that issuers, merchants and their consumers can transact securely from any digital device any time.

"Cardinal focuses on providing the best authentication solution in the world. It is an exciting time in our industry with the launch of EMV 3DS, and Cardinal is proud to announce we are fully live and transacting across American Express, Mastercard and Visa. Our issuers and merchants can now support all protocol versions of 3DS within the Cardinal Authentication Network," said Jaime Howard, VP of Global Product at CardinalCommerce.

Here is what the payment networks have to say:

American Express: "Consumers' continued shift to online and mobile commerce has reinforced the need for merchants and card issuers to deliver a customer experience that strikes the right balance between ease and security," said Seana Pitt, Vice President of Global Network Operations and Product at American Express. "American Express' SafeKey 2.0 platform, which is built on the EMV 3-D Secure protocol, enables merchants and issuers to exchange more detailed transaction information to help further minimize the risk of fraud while reducing the need to interrupt the consumer's purchase."

Visa: "As we look ahead and commerce becomes increasingly digital, we have a responsibility to ensure consumers and businesses can rely on secure transactions," said Mark Nelsen, senior vice president of Risk and Authentication Products, Visa. "EMV 3-D Secure is an important building block to strengthen security and fraud prevention, wherever payments happen. CardinalCommerce's milestone, enabling EMV 3-D Secure transactions across these three major payment networks, moves the industry forward toward those goals."
