Celebrate the Acceleration of Technology Innovations in Our Region at the 10th Annual FITCI/Fort Detrick Alliance Technology Showcase

FREDERICK, Md., Oct. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Celebrate the acceleration of technology from the labs at Fort Detrick to the Frederick business community for the 10th anniversary of the FITCI/Fort Detrick Alliance Technology Showcase. The event will be held on October 25 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Frederick Innovative Technology Center located at Metropolitan Court.

Representatives from Frederick National Labs will present a poster session about technology transfer opportunities that are ready to be launched into the marketplace. Area businesses interested in the technologies presented will be able to begin conversations with scientists to start the technology transfer acceleration into the market.

Major General Barbara R. Holcomb, Commanding General, U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, Fort Detrick, will present the keynote at the event. MG Holcomb is a 1987 Distinguished Military Graduate of Seattle University Army ROTC where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She earned a Master's degree in Nursing Administration from the University of Kansas, a Master's level Certification in Emergency and Disaster Management from American Military University and a Master's in Military Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Prior to becoming Commanding General at Fort Detrick, she served as the Deputy Commanding General for Operations, U.S. Army Medical Command. She was designated as Chief, Army Nurse Corps on 2 November 2015.

Major General Holcomb's awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal (1OLC), Legion of Merit (2OLC), Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (5OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1OLC), National Defense Service Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal (2 campaign stars), Kosovo Campaign Medal, NATO Service Ribbon (Kosovo), Southwest Asia Service Medal (3 campaign stars), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia and Kuwait), the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon (1OLC), and the Expert Field Medical Badge. She is a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit.

In addition, to MG Holcomb's address, Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner and City of Frederick Mayor Michael O'Connor will give opening remarks.

Guests will also tour FITCI labs, mix and mingle with Fort Detrick officials, elected officials, business leaders and FITCI clients while they wine and dine on small bites and appetizers.
