Mercedes-Benz Canada gains momentum in October

TORONTO, Nov. 2, 2018 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network are pleased to announce the company retailed 4,064 units in October. This result contributed to the total of 42,272 passenger cars, luxury light trucks, vans and smart vehicles sold year-to-date.

Throughout the month, sales of luxury light trucks continued to outpace passenger cars. In October, Mercedes-Benz Canada delivered 2,151 of the former and 1,481 of the latter, for a total of 3,632 units retailed. Understandably, the top two volume-drivers for the month were SUVs: the GLE SUV and the GLC SUV, which saw sales increases of 68.7% and 9.5% respectively compared to October 2017.

Year-to-date, the company delivered 36,379 Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles, including 19,328 SUVs and 17,051 passenger cars. Most notably, the company's year-over-year sales volume was also driven by the GLC SUV (+9.2) and the GLE SUV (+26.9%). Between January and October, the C-Class Wagon, E-Class Cabriolet and Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster also saw significant sales growth compared to the same period last year.

The Mercedes-Benz Vans division delivered 391 units in October, supported by strong sales of the Sprinter Cargo and Passenger vans. So far in 2018, the division has retailed 5,588 units for a year-to-date increase of 6.1% over 2017.

41 smart fortwo vehicles were delivered in October.

The Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned division achieved record-breaking results in October, reporting best-ever sales of pre-owned as well as Certified Pre-Owned vehicles. Over the course of the month, the division retailed 1,715 vehicles (+12.9% from 2017), including 1,259 Certified Pre-Owned vehicles (+11.4%). Year-to-date, the number of pre-owned vehicles delivered increased by 5.3% over 2017, reaching a total of 15,450. Of those, 11,906 were Certified Pre-Owned units, for a growth of 2.8% year-over-year.

"I'm pleased to see the company gaining momentum as our model year 2019 vehicles arrive in dealerships across the country," says Brian D. Fulton, President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. "We are working harder than ever to ensure our customers' needs are met. A temporary shortage of inventory is in the process of being resolved, and we are dedicated to taking the necessary steps to support strong outcomes in the final two months of the year."
