Workplace Wellness to Take Center Stage in SEEN Exhibit

NEW YORK, Nov. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Made of Millions, a nonprofit organization that advocates on behalf of wellness in the workplace, is bringing its traveling exhibit -- Seen -- to New York this month. The event will feature a discussion on changing the culture of mental health in modern-day offices.

"I wanted to create environment that showcases mental health issues in a more experiential way," said Aaron Harvey, founder of Made of Millions and Partner at Ready Set Rocket. "These are problems that go unseen, but it doesn't make them any less real. This event offers tangible, raw insight into mental health disorders."

The installation, which will reside in Bento On Hudson, includes a panel on workplace wellness with executives from Tumblr, Rolling Stone, Ready Set Rocket and others. The conversation will focus on the bleak state of mental wellness in modern workplaces, where anxiety and depression are on the rise, stigma remains high, technology continues to blur the line between work-life and home-life, and benefits packages are devoid of crucial mental health services.

The exhibit will also feature the photography of Ira Chernova, performance art by Adam Strauss, and viewing of Mindstory, a short film about mental experience fluidity.

The inspiration for Seen comes from Harvey's own mental health journal, dealing with debilitating intrusive thoughts and depression. Through Made of Millions, each month, he works to pair an advocate and an artist to shoot a mental health story, and the shoot with Chernova is a centerpiece for the exhibit.

"I wanted to create work that is unsettling, makes people look into the details, and forces them to feel the weight of the conversation that's being had," Chernova, who has long dealt with anxiety, said. "I played with long and multiple exposure to catch that ghost-like feeling of having negative intrusive thoughts follow you around. The exhibition consists of a few chapters, with the final ones symbolizing release and letting-go, in contrast to the darker first chapters."

The exhibit opens at 5 p.m. Thursday and will features a cocktail hour after the panel. It will remain open for general viewing through Saturday. For tickets, please visit Eventbrite.com.
