mCube Ships 500-Millionth Accelerometer

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- mCube, provider of the world's smallest and lowest power MEMS motion sensors announced that mCube has surpassed 500 million units in cumulative shipments of its industry leading accelerometer products.

In the IoT era, virtually anything that moves can utilize a motion sensor. In a recent market research by Melvin Bright, the global market for smart sensors is projected to reach $28.1 billion by 2024. mCube sensors are used in smart connected devices ranging from wearables and phones, hearing aids and hearables, implantable or ingestible medical devices, smart appliances, connected e-bikes, to motion sensing smart city sub-systems. "It's exciting to see more and more innovative products featuring mCube motion sensors," said Ben Lee, CEO, mCube, Inc. "mCube's state-of-the-art monolithic single-chip MEMS technology continues to enable new Internet of Moving Things applications."

The 500-Millionth unit was recorded in a November shipment to mCube customer, TCL Communication, a top 5 smartphone supplier to the North American market. On November 16, 2018, mCube presented to TCL a commemorative trophy for this milestone. TCL senior management congratulated the mCube team for achieving this significant milestone and expressed appreciation for mCube's support. "mCube has been a long-time strategic partner of TCL Communications," says a Senior Executive at TCL. "Its high quality monolithic single-chip MEMS+CMOS motion sensors are being used in most of TCL's mobile phone products. We are very excited to witness the 500-Millionth unit moment, appreciate their dedicated support, and look forward to working with mCube for continued success."

A critical element of the growth to 500-Million units, was the global availability and rapid deployment of new devices and development kits to engineers around the world. Mouser Electronics enabled this capability and will continue to promote the latest mCube products, including the world's smallest and lowest-power 3-axis accelerometers, the MC3672 and MC3635. "As a technology leader in motion sensor solutions, mCube is a valued supplier partner for us," says Kristin Schuetter, Mouser Electronics' Vice President of Supplier Management. "The ultra-small size and extremely low power consumption of mCube's motion sensor solutions are being used in the latest wearables, hearables and medical devices. We are excited about their growth and look forward to much continued success."
