Somfy Introduces Award-winning SDN Power over Ethernet Gateway
DAYTON, N.J., Nov. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Somfy Systems, Inc., the world's largest manufacturer of motors for interior window coverings and exterior solar protections, is excited to launch the SDN Power over Ethernet (PoE) Gateway. The SDN PoE Gateway is a low-voltage power distribution and network-connected module that utilizes 60 watt PoE technology to power and control the Somfy® 24V RS485 motorization offer for interior shades and draperies.
The SDN PoE Gateway makes it simple to integrate shading with other PoE systems such as security, HVAC, lighting, and more. With no need for DC power supplies or electricians, it's easy to lower infrastructure costs and save time on construction and installation. Somfy's SDN PoE Gateway is also efficient and scalable, simplifying the building code process for new construction or renovations.

The award-winning and compact SDN PoE Gateway is capable of powering single or multiple motors, delivering up to 51W of power and Ethernet-based connectivity. The SDN PoE Gateway is powered and connected via standard Cat 5e/6 UTP cable and controls SDN motors. It works with the IEEE 802.3 bt protocol and is compliant with Cisco UPoE.
Easy to connect and disconnect with daisy-chain capability, the device also supports both Somfy Synergy(TM) API and CoAP Digital Building API. Compatible with the Molex Transcend Control System, the SDN PoE Gateway distributes power and data to Somfy-powered shade and drapery motors.
