HNTB's Amit Bose Appointed President of the Coalition for the Northeastern Corridor

ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Amit Bose, HNTB Corporation associate vice president and program director, has been appointed president of the Coalition for the Northeastern Corridor. The CNEC's mission is to advocate for federal infrastructure investment to protect the future of the Northeast Corridor's rail infrastructure.

As board president, Bose chairs the group's board of directors; helps set direction and priorities; recruits new members; and represents the coalition at industry events and before Congress, federal transportation agencies and the White House.

"At a time when infrastructure investment and repair is so critical to our economy and way of life, I'm honored to represent HNTB in this important organization," Bose said. "CNEC advocates for the nation's most crucial rail corridor, a vital economic engine that moves millions of people and a tremendous number of goods every day. I look forward to raising the visibility of the entire corridor from Boston to Washington, D.C., and helping CNEC recruit new members, especially major companies along the corridor. These companies are users and beneficiaries of the system and can help advocate for its value and importance."

HNTB was one of the founding members of the Coalition in 2016. It has since grown to nearly 20 members representing a broad range of private, academic, and other business interests in the corridor. The Coalition's regional and national advocacy efforts are led by the market participants that benefit most from a strong and vibrant Northeast Corridor, the end-users themselves.

"Improving the Corridor to a state of good repair is critical to improving mobility and maximizing the region's economic potential," said Peter Gertler, senior vice president at HNTB and one of the CNEC's founding members and officers. (Gertler serves as an officer and the Coalition's treasurer.) "The Coalition provides the strong, united industry voice needed to achieve long-term, sustainable funding that is required."

Bose is based in HNTB's Arlington, Virginia, office. He helps deliver major transit and rail projects for clients and advances HNTB's mid-Atlantic rail practice. He has nearly 20 years of public-sector experience serving a variety of agencies, including the Federal Railroad Administration, where he was Deputy Administrator, U.S. Department of Transportation, New Jersey Transit and New Jersey Department of Transportation. He was involved in the Northeast Corridor Program, California High Speed Rail Project, Northeast Corridor Future, Southeast Passenger Rail and Build America Bureau, in addition to engaging with all levels of government and industry on transit and rail matters.
