Conference Attendees to Discuss RAD, LIHTC Solutions to National Affordable Housing Shortage
MIAMI BEACH, Fla., Jan. 2, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A National Low Income Housing Coalition report found a nationwide shortage of 7.2 million affordable, available homes for extremely low-income renters. One way to address the problem is the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program, which, according to the Government Accountability Office, uses low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) financing in about half of its transactions. RAD and LIHTC strategies and best practices will be discussed Jan. 10-11, 2019, in Miami Beach, Fla., at Novogradac's 2019 Affordable Housing Conference: Using RAD and the LIHTC to Improve Communities.
"The name of this conference says it all," said Rebecca Arthur, MAI, conference co-chairwoman and partner at Novogradac & Company LLP. "Our goal is to help attendees effectively use RAD and the LIHTC to improve communities and provide affordable housing to the people who need it the most."
"Our experienced panelists will provide valuable insights that attendees can use to make informed decisions," said Rich Larsen, CPA, conference co-chairman and partner at Novogradac & Company LLP. "Panel topics include transitioning from public housing to Section 8, combining historic tax credits and RAD, opportunity zones and RAD conversions, income averaging, public housing agency success stories and more."
