Bensonwood and Unity Homes Featured on Ask This Old House

WALPOLE, N.H., Jan. 3, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The new robotic fabrication facility for Bensonwood and Unity Homes will be featured in an upcoming episode of Ask This Old House on PBS. Ask This Old House, a spin-off of the iconic home renovation show, This Old House, addresses new trends and answers homeowner questions. Tedd Benson, founder of Bensonwood and Unity Homes, will appear on the show alongside other team members. They follow the process of data-driven architecture models used by the robotic fabrication equipment in the Walpole and Keene, NH factories.

"The Ask This Old House team has their finger on the pulse of the residential construction industry and they are committed to covering innovations that can help the homeowner," said Benson. "We're honored to be included in this episode and share our approach to prefab homes; to ultimately bring a higher quality, more energy efficient, and healthier home to more people."

The show marks the third collaboration with the producers of Ask This Old House and This Old House. In the 2008 Fall series of This Old House, the construction of a new prefab Bensonwood timber frame home was documented from start to finish. Other episodes highlighted various aspects of timberframe and prefab construction.

The new show investigates how Bensonwood's wall, roof, and floor manufacturing lines and robotic timber fabrication are used to achieve higher precision and efficiency.

Benson concluded, "Our factory is only as good as the data that feeds the machines and that's why we still rely on the best people. I hope this episode inspires home buyers and home builders alike, so we see continued innovation and an improved home supply for future generations."
