Indiana Limestone Company Donates Stone for Commemorative Cauldron at 2019 Special Olympics Alberta Winter Games, Calgary

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Jan. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Indiana Limestone Company has donated its celebrated stone for a Commemorative Cauldron honoring both the 2019 Special Olympics Alberta Winter Games (Feb. 8-10 in Calgary) and 2018's 50th anniversary of the Special Olympics.

"The 2019 Games, proudly hosted by the City of Calgary," said Linda Demchuk, Director, Sponsorship and Fundraising for the Games, "are once again a testament to the undeniable strength, sport and spirit of every athlete competing at these Games. This Commemorative Cauldron is dedicated to 50 years of the Special Olympics Movement, and to the many athletes who train, work and live as proud citizens in Calgary.

"What started as a dream of the Demchuk family almost two years ago has come together with the kindness and generosity of many. It is because of our amazing supporters and the creative vision of Calgary Special Olympics athlete and artist Leonka Kaluha, that Calgary finally has a monument to commemorate the legacy of Special Olympics."

Following the Games, the monument will be permanently displayed at Winsport in Calgary's Canada Olympic Park.

"We're pleased to support not only Special Olympics but all Albertans with this gift," said Tim Pick, Indiana Limestone Company Regional Manager.

Since its founding in 1968, Special Olympics has engaged over 5.7 million athletes for training and competition in 172 countries.

"Indiana Limestone Company has always admired Special Olympics," said Duffe Elkins, the company's COO. "The efforts of our friends in Calgary and of Special Olympics everywhere have brought inclusion to thousands of athletes, helping them cultivate the strength, determination and confidence to meet challenges in sports and in life."
