Girls in Tech Introduces #LeaveYourMark, a Movement Celebrating Women in the Workforce

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 8, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Girls in Tech, a non-profit organization focused on the empowerment, education, and entrepreneurship of women in technology, today announced the #LeaveYourMark campaign, a movement that celebrates women and their proudest professional achievements in the workforce! Leading up to International Women's Day on March 8, 2019, they will also be inviting the community to donate to the education of women through the Global Classroom program, a free online program that teaches design and coding to girls and women.

"Women have been at the forefront of technology for decades often going unnoticed and forgotten by history," said Adriana Gascoigne, Founder and CEO of Girls in Tech. "Our work won't be done until a woman's name is as synonymous with tech as Steve Jobs; until women cover the pages of computer science textbooks; until people assume that scientist, founder, or CEO is a she."

Introducing #LeaveYourMark, a celebration of #womenatwork. Here's how to participate:

-- Write it. Own what you're most proud of and write your proudest
accomplishment! Print a #leaveyourmark graphic, grab a Post-It, or jot
it down on your work notebook. Know someone doing incredible work but
isn't one to toot her own horn? Give her a shoutout and congratulate her
by writing a note on her behalf!
-- Post it. Post your accomplishment to a wall inside your office, and
encourage your friends and coworkers to download and post, too.
-- Share it. Snap a picture and share it on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook,
LinkedIn using the hashtag #leaveyourmark and #IWD2019. Then tag your
        friends to pass it on!

Girls in Tech also encourages all women, female-identifying individuals, and supportive friends - to participate!

#LeaveYourMark on future generations
Tomorrow's female CEOs, venture capitalists, and founders are already doing great work today, but the vast majority don't have the resources and access to take their ideas to fruition. That's why Girls in Tech invites the community to fund the future accomplishments of women and girls through the Global Classroom program, a four-week virtual coding and design class.

Donations directly fund education on web development, coding, programming, and 3D design and modeling for women and entrepreneurs at every level of tech across 6 continents - completely free. To get details on making a donation, please visit the International Women's Day page of the Girls in Tech website.
