Textron Systems Receives Award from U.S. Air Force for Aerosonde® Small Unmanned Aircraft System (SUAS) Operations

On October 26, 2018, the U.S. Air Force announced a competitive, multiple year award to Textron Systems for continued Aerosonde SUAS Contractor-Owned, Contractor-Operated operations at Bagram Airfield and Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan.

Textron Systems has continuously supported the U.S. Air Force with Aerosonde SUAS operations at these locations since 2013 under a contract with the U.S. Navy.

Textron Systems Senior Vice President & General Manager David Phillips says, “This contract demonstrates the Aerosonde system’s proven performance and capability throughout the past five years. We are proud to continue supporting the U.S. Air Force in Afghanistan.”

Textron Systems’ Aerosonde platform, which has more than 300,000 flight hours, also recently successfully demonstrated the Cloud Cap TASE400 LD payload at Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona.
