Advance Your Career: Skill Distillery Coding Bootcamp Approved for New Veteran VET TEC Program

DENVER, April 4, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Skill Distillery, a Java(®) web-programming bootcamp, announced U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) approval to serve as a preference school for the new Veteran Employment Through Technology Education Courses (VET TEC) program.

U.S. Veterans can now attend Skill Distillery's 16-week Java(®) programming bootcamp without using any of their GI Bill benefits. Skill Distillery's coding bootcamp is an intensive training program that teaches students the necessary skills for obtaining high-paying jobs as software developers.

"We were honored to be a leading bootcamp accepting the GI Bill(®) in 2015 and now as a preference school for the VET TEC program to help Veterans get rewarding careers as computer programmers," said Bruce Batky, Skill Distillery Co-Founder and CEO. "The new VET TEC program is a game changer that will allow us to help many more Veterans advance their careers."

"After leaving the military, I took a job as a police officer. I worked nights, weekends, and was frequently on call. Not being able to spend time with my family, missing out on my son's sports, birthdays, holidays, etc. was stressful and took its toll on me. I knew there was a better way.

"Even though I had no experience, I started looking at careers that would be in demand in the future. I talked to friends who were programmers and wanted to make a change. I went through Skill Distillery's coding bootcamp and got a job shortly after graduating at HomeAdvisor.

"Now, I am really happy with my job. My life is stress free - no nights, holidays or weekend work ... work life balance is real. I enjoy time with my son, and I am more involved with him than ever. It was an amazing transition, and everything I have been looking for," said Tyler Paladini, Skill Distillery Graduate.

To meet employer demand, the VA created a new program that pairs Veterans with industry-leading technology training providers to expand career options for Veterans.

Skill Distillery's coding bootcamp focuses on teaching both Java and Javascript, the two most in-demand, highest-paying languages in the computer programming industry.[1] By teaching both, we give students more than 2x the number of job opportunities.

In addition, Veterans who complete the coding bootcamp are granted access to Skill Distillery's extensive employer network to get hired quickly. Visit SkillDistillery.com for more information.
