BREEZE ExDAM 9.0 Improved for High Explosive and Vapor Cloud Explosion Modeling

DALLAS, May 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- BREEZE®, the market-leading provider of EHS software used by safety and hazard professionals worldwide, announces the release of BREEZE ExDAM Version 9.0 which enhances a user's ability to compute and predict injury and damage resulting from the detonation of high explosive (HE) and vapor cloud explosions (VCE). This development will be valuable to the thousands of facilities that require detailed information about the possible effects of an explosion, or need to identify and design mitigation measures for both potential industrial explosions and potential terrorist attacks.

New software enhancements introduced in BREEZE ExDAM Version 9.0 include the following:
1. New types of high explosive materials (requires HexDAM module) - Added high explosives with built-in relative effectiveness factors that relate an explosive's power to that of TNT
2. Vapor cloud explosion fuel properties calculator (requires VExDAM module) - New tool calculates a fuel's stoichiometric ratio, molecular weight, and net combustion energy required to define a vapor cloud explosion using the chemical molecular formula and the chemical standard enthalpy of formation
3. Performance improvements - Increased the software's available memory to allow processing of complex cases

Recently, BREEZE ExDAM was recognized as an example tool for advanced situational awareness in crisis management during the Standardization of Situational Awareness Systems to Strengthen Operations (SAYSO) international conference in Budapest, Hungary. At the conference, SAYSO introduced the Multi-stakeholder Standardized Situational Awareness (SA) System (MSSAS). MSSAS was designed for law enforcement, fire fighters, paramedics and technical relief organizations. The following is an excerpt from SAYSO regarding the use of ExDAM:

"An important functionality for advanced SA in crisis management is modelling. In this process GIS image/data processing, 3D building modeler, interactive visualization, and dynamic scene-update are integrated into a 3D model of an office building. Taking real-time positional measurements of people and resources within a structure, even a multi-story building and its users can be visualized for the incident commanders as 3D SA. This approach can increase the speed and effectiveness of an emergency response, thus saving lives and decreasing costs. This concept has been used for various practical applications in advanced SA.
