Car Dealership Improves Safety and Efficiency with Lighting Upgrades

FREDERICK, Md., May 24, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- During a check presentation ceremony, Potomac Edison awarded Fitzgerald Auto Malls with $111,645 in incentives for energy-efficient upgrades.

The check was presented to Fitzgerald Auto Malls by Potomac Edison's Energy Solutions for Business Program for installation of lighting improvements throughout five of the company's facilities. Energy-efficient LED lighting upgrades were performed on both interior and exterior lighting fixtures. The upgrades are expected to save nearly 379,071 kilowatt-hours (kWh), which is equivalent to the energy used to charge 34,181,008 smart phones or power 32 average Maryland homes for a year.

Potomac Edison's Energy Solutions for Business Program offers rebates to Maryland commercial and industrial customers for qualified upgrades to more energy-efficient products including lighting, process controls, HVAC and more. In this case, upgraded lighting not only improved the safety of the car lots, but served to cut down on the overall amount of lighting needed, due to a more strategic placement.

Watt Watchers Inc. has been working with Fitzgerald for years, and President Gary Perno makes it a point to keep himself educated about energy efficiency programs which he then passes on to his customers and advises them on how to make the best-informed decisions regarding upgrades. He learned of the Potomac Edison Energy Solutions for Business Program and knew right away that it was a fit for Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald Auto Malls is committed to establishing and maintaining an Environmental Management System (EMS) that goes beyond simply meeting environmental laws and regulations but extends to everyday practices and business decisions.

"Improving the efficiency of our facilities, allows us to not only save energy but improve the environment, the people who work there, and the customers who come to shop." - Dave Marcoux, Corporate Manager Fitzgerald Auto Malls.

They recognize the ways that their business impacts our environment, from major recycling efforts to energy consumption, and feels this sets them apart from the competition.
