Dunaway Creates 6 Dynamic Spraygrounds for Dallas

FORT WORTH, Texas, May 29, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Just in time for the sweltering summer months in the Metroplex, Dallas is unveiling 6 colorful spraygrounds across the City as a way to help residents to stay cool and have plenty of splashing fun.

The spraygrounds are being opened at the following parks:

1. Nash-Davis Park
2. Timberglen Park
3. K.B. Polk Park
4. Grauwyler Park
5. Jaycee-Zaragoza Park
6. Kleberg Park

"Being selected to design these spraygrounds for the City of Dallas was a tremendous honor and challenge due to the fast-track schedule." said Senior Discipline Lead and Associate Adam Brewster, who was Dunaway's project manager for the spraygrounds.

"Our mandate from the City of Dallas was to provide an equal level of service at each location, while also creating unique designs that respond to the park and the community around it. Each sprayground ranges in surface area from 2,800 to 3,000 square feet and has its own distinct theme and water-play features. The colorful elements and range of water activities are very engaging for the kids."

Each project also includes a small pavilion and brightly-colored fabric shade structures. The sprayground surface is a non-slip, acrylic cement topping, which helps address risk management issues as well as allowing the design team the flexibility for design and patterning. The filtration system allows for the reuse of the water, an important cost savings to the City. At the same time, the system meets the exacting standards for an interactive water feature, which calls for the water to be highly sanitized by filtering it with chlorine as well as ultraviolet light.

Both the City of Dallas and Dunaway are already seeing an enthusiastic reception from area residents at the spraygrounds - making these parks even more of a community destination.
