Honeywell’s new HG4930 S-Class IMU delivers platform stabilization to challenging applications

Honeywell offers high-performance, non-ITAR inertial measurement units and navigators for demanding use cases that require reliable data in GNSS-challenged areas.

Cameras and antennas may not seem to have much in common with an aircraft, but every one of these applications use inertial sensors to measure platform motion.

Honeywell has been producing high-performance inertial sensors for decades and has delivered more than 500,000 units to serve as navigation aids on just about every airplane and spacecraft flying today.

That same technology is available today to customers with industrial applications with Honeywell’s non-ITAR, HG4930 S-Class micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) IMU.

“Every day we learn of new ways our customers are using IMUs to innovate and develop solutions for extremely difficult real-world problems”, said Chris Lund, senior director, Honeywell Aerospace. “We’re excited for the HG4930 S-Class IMU as it was produced to help our customers stabilize payloads on moving platforms and their feedback has been extremely positive.”

The HG4930 S-Class model is highly accurate, dependable and optimizes latency and bandwidth without sacrificing accuracy.

It’s easily integrated into any architecture using standard communications interfaces. The HG4930 S-Class is extremely small (5 cubic inches), light weight (140 grams) and low power (less than 3 watts), making the unit ideal for a wide range of stabilization applications.
