Pulse Launches First-of-Its-Kind Mobile App Where Medical Travelers Can Connect

OMAHA, Neb., July 10, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Millennial medical travelers are entering the market at double the rate the boomers did and are predicted to surpass the number of Generation X nurses by 2020. This will make them the largest market segment in nursing. This growth, paired with the loneliness medical travelers can sometimes encounter while on assignment, poses a challenge to the growing industry. That is where Pulse, a first-of-its-kind social app, can help. The new app is made specifically for medical travelers to connect with one another while on assignment in order to help make their new cities feel more like home.

Pulse is free to download for medical travelers and allows users to host meetups and invite coworkers, friends or other nearby travelers to join in their adventures. They can find recommended places in their new city, earn badges, post in their community and chat with other professionals. Whether users are looking to start a sand volleyball team or meet up with other travelers for a cup of coffee, Pulse can connect them with other like-minded traveling health care professionals.

"The concept of apps that connect users in person has become more mainstream in the past 10 years," said Sara Winters, cofounder of Pulse. "When creating Pulse, we wanted to help connect medical travelers specifically in the same way that meetup apps do, and give users a way to make friends, meet their coworkers and build a community in their new hometown."

Winters adds, "We know there are numerous benefits to traveling, and we are happy to see more people turning to travel as a career choice; however, there remains a deficit in the community-building aspect of travel compared to that of a permanent, full-time health care position. We believe Pulse will help tackle the challenge of meeting new people head on and change the travel experience for all health care contingent staff."

The Pulse app launched in beta on May 1, 2019, and is now available for download in the U.S. on both Apple and Android devices by searching Pulse for Travelers. The app also has integration with Facebook and Google. Pulse is continuing to build out the app with other useful functions. Coming soon will be integrations to help users find housing, continuing education units and more.

Pulse was developed by marketers in the health care staffing space who saw an opportunity to build a community and improve the experience for traveling medical professionals. Learn more about Pulse at pulsefortravelers.com.
