Star's Group Managing Director Prepares to Share Industry Knowledge at ICR Montreal

LONDON, August 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Star Refrigeration's Group Managing Director has been invited to present two papers at one of the world's most esteemed conferences in the cooling industry. The 25th IIR International Congress of Refrigeration is due to take place in Montreal from August 24th-30th, and Star Refrigeration will also take part in the exhibition to showcase its game-changing low charge ammonia refrigeration packages.

The anticipated event unites industry professionals, academics and engineers from all over the world to share ideas, network and present new industry developments. It is held every four years and the theme for the 2019 congress is 'Refrigeration for Human Health and Future Prosperity'. The event showcases the latest refrigeration, heat pump and air conditioning technologies and research from prominent experts around the world. Papers and seminars will explore current issues such as energy efficiency, reducing global warming, protecting the Ozone layer and the effect on food supply.

Dr. Andy Pearson's first research paper is titled Energy Performance of Industrial Cold Store Facilities and is scheduled for Thursday August 29th, 2019, from 10:40 in room 524a. Using decades of experience, Dr. Pearson will outline factors affecting efficiency and pinpoint where improvements can be made for a more energy efficient and economically efficient cold store. The objective of this paper is to facilitate improvements in energy efficiency of cold stores and offer advice on ways in which store operators can track their energy performance, including methods of justifying additional expenditure on energy saving opportunities.

His second research paper, Continuous monitoring of energy performance in industrial refrigeration systems will be presented on August 30th, from 08:30 in room 520cf. It demonstrates improved methods of performance assessment of industrial refrigeration systems and identifies the main barriers which prevent operators from collecting meaningful data on energy performance. Finally, the paper proposes a series of guidelines for cost-effective ways to make better use of energy data.

Both seminars are closely linked with the International Congress of Refrigeration's theme of future prosperity and address the challenges the industry faces in terms of carbon reduction.

Dr. Pearson is no stranger to international conferences, having presented papers and award-winning research all over the world. He is a seasoned speaker at IIR events and in the past has presented in Beijing, Sydney and Washington DC to name a few.

Working for the company since 1986, Dr. Pearson has built up years of professional hands-on experience at Star Refrigeration, alongside an outstanding track record of industry achievements. He served as President of the Institute of Refrigeration from 2010-2013, Chairman of the British

Standards Institute committee on Refrigeration Safety (RHE/018), and on the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration from 2002-2008. He also represents BSI on the equivalent committees in CEN and ISO and has been lead author for UNEP's Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps Technical Options Committee since 2006. As an expert in his field Dr. Pearson was deeply involved in the development of the international standards EN378 and ISO5149. In 2016, he was named as an ASHRAE Fellow and contributes a popular monthly column to the ASHRAE Journal.

Dr. Andy Pearson said in advance of the event, "Attending conferences is one of the highlights of my job, and the IIR host some of the best in the world. I'm looking forward to travelling to Canada with my team to promote the highest level of excellence in the engineering community. Sharing knowledge and experience is absolutely vital for overcoming future industry challenges, and I hope my research will contribute meaningfully. Star's Group Sales and Marketing Director, Dr. Rob Lamb, will also be presenting a paper, and we're proud to have such a presence at the 25th ICR in Canada"

As part of the research Dr. Pearson will focus on ammonia and carbon dioxide systems, in which he is a recognised expert. The papers use specific industry examples of these types of cooling plant, discussing data from previous research and updating them for today's market.

One of Star Refrigeration's leading products is the low charge ammonia packaged chillers and freezers, which will be available to view in detail at the exhibition at Booth 409.

The 25th ICR takes place at The Palais des Congrès de Montréal, Montréal, Québec, Canada, August 24th-30th 2019.
