Proud Source Water Commits $25,000 to Save the Bay

MACKAY, Idaho, Sept. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Fresh off the news of being named one of the alternative companies to plastic bottled water at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Proud Source Water is thrilled to announce its partnership with Save the Bay and 1% for the Planet.

Proud Source Water's mission is to be the most transparent bottled water company in the world with a focus on sustainability and the environment. Offering natural, alkaline spring water in an aluminum bottle, the company's goal is to provide consumers with natural spring water in the most sustainable package. The spring water is responsibly sourced in a remote location in the Rocky Mountains of Idaho. Via the partnership with 1% for the Planet, Proud Source Water plans to contribute $25,000 to Save the Bay, a Bay Area non-profit focused on protecting and restoring the San Francisco Bay.

"We are inspired by the San Francisco airport and the entire Bay Area in acting with conscious responsibility for our planet. As a 1% for the Planet member, we're always looking for ways to create a positive environmental impact. Save the Bay is a perfect partner to create a local, circular pattern of giving back from the purchases of our products. Hopefully, this starts another ripple effect that we can all be proud of," said CJ Pennington, President of Proud Source Water.

The impact created by this partnership will:

-- Host 5,000 volunteers of all ages to conduct hands-on restoration
activities at Save the Bay's seven sites around the Bay.
    -- Propagate 40,000 native seedlings.
    -- Transplant 30,000 native plants.
-- Restore 15 acres of crucial habitat.

"Our partnership with Proud Source Water is the perfect example of how companies and nonprofit organizations can work together to make a positive impact at a regional scale," said David Lewis, executive director at Save The Bay. "We have fought plastic pollution for decades and the sponsorship from Proud Source Water will help Save The Bay advance our efforts toward reaching a clean and healthy San Francisco Bay."

This partnership follows the recent announcement that SFO would no longer sell plastic water bottles. Proud Source Water is among the brands that are part of the phase-out of single-use plastic water bottles in SFO.

To fund this partnership, Proud Source Water is committing a portion of its annual sales as a 1% for the Planet Member. 1% for the Planet is made up of over 2000 businesses that have raised over $225 million to support approved environmental non-profits around the globe. Nonprofits are approved based on referrals, track record and environmental focus. Thousands of nonprofits worldwide are currently approved.

"Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment and, only 3% of that comes from businesses. The planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of member businesses is doing its valuable part to increase giving and support on the ground outcomes. We're excited to welcome Proud Source Water to our global movement of over 2000 businesses," says Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet.
