Virtudent Continues Teledentistry Growth Trajectory With Texas Expansion

BOSTON, Mass. and DALLAS, Texas, Oct. 1, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Statistics show that more than half of Texans aged 45-64 have had tooth loss due to oral disease and about one in eight aged 65 and older have none of their natural teeth remaining. Virtudent, Inc. (http://www.virtudent.com), the leading provider of teledentistry services for employers, today announced the company's expansion into Texas. Virtudent's solution, designed to increase access to high-quality, preventive dental care, will contribute to improving the overall health of people in the state.

The company is now bringing their pioneering business model to patients at their places of work in Texas under the direction of newly appointed Vice President and General Manager, Chris Crawford. From its regional headquarters in Dallas, Virtudent is licensed and fully operational, offering preventive dental visits at leading companies including Bain & Company, Signify Health and The Beck Group.

For employers, Virtudent's on-premise model helps save lost employee work hours, working in partnership with health insurers to reduce rising medical costs related to the non-utilization of dental wellness visits. Diagnostic and preventive services typically performed at a dentist's office - including a complete oral health exam, cleaning and X-rays - are brought right to the patient's workplace using a proprietary portable dental system. Experienced dentists and advisors from top dental schools including Boston University Dental School, Columbia Dental, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Johns Hopkins and Tufts Dental School provide clinical oversight and review all Virtudent patient cases, assessments and X-rays. In Texas, Virtudent's team of providers consists of experienced dentists and dental hygienists, all of whom are state-licensed and have received rigorous training in Virtudent's proprietary solution and patient care techniques.

"We are a technology driven culture and it's time that dentistry evolved into the 21st century," said Hitesh Tolani, DMD, founder of Virtudent. "By making it easy for employees to schedule their dental visits online, see a dental hygienist at work, access outstanding dentists via teledentistry, and review their records online we are meeting people where they are today. As the second largest state in the U.S., Texas represents a big piece of our accelerated growth strategy and mission to help improve healthcare for all."

A resident of Dallas, Crawford is a decorated Army veteran and brings to his role more than a decade of experience working closely with growth companies in the areas of strategy, operations, and finance, most recently as a Director of Private Equity at Satori Capital. Previously he was a Principal with Perot Investments, and prior to that a Vice President of Summit Partners. A graduate of West Point, Crawford later went on to earn an MBA from Harvard Business School and began his post-military career at Goldman Sachs in the healthcare investment banking group. Since 2008, he has served as an investor and board advisor, in addition to spending time as an interim operating executive at private companies across industries including healthcare, dental services, software, education, and technology-enabled business services.

"Throughout my career I've had the privilege of partnering with and learning from incredibly talented business leaders and world-class investors. Along the way, I've gained some pattern recognition for companies that are not only mission-driven and forward-thinking, but also combine innovation with the ability to execute," said Crawford. "Virtudent is transforming dentistry as we know it by making access to quality care radically convenient, and I'm excited about the opportunity to lead our stellar team as we expand into the great state of Texas."
