Jim O'Leary of NFI to Share Electric Vehicle Insights at VERGE 19

CAMDEN, N.J., Oct. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Jim O'Leary, Vice President of Fleet Services at NFI, will speak in a panel at VERGE 19 taking place October 23 in Oakland, Calif. Along with other industry experts, O'Leary will provide his insight on electric truck technology, applications, and forecasts during the session entitled, "The State of Electric Trucks."

Operating a dedicated transportation and drayage fleet of 4,000 tractors, NFI is one of North America's top for-hire carriers. While driving the logistics industry, NFI has also been leading the charge in the industry's adoption of electric trucks and environmentally-beneficial technologies and best practices. Partnering with world-class tractor manufacturers, NFI has been deploying electric tractors and has committed to implementing additional units into its operations. The initial electric tractors have been integrated into NFI's drayage operations in Southern California, where the 3PL operates one of the industry's most prominent drayage fleets.

"The state of electric trucks continues to shift as demand for more sustainable vehicles increases," said O'Leary. "In the past, companies merely dabbled in sustainable technologies, but I believe we are in the midst of an industry-wide transformation. Battery costs are dropping and states like California are creating more incentives and mandates to encourage zero-emission vehicles. It's a very exciting time in our industry and I'm thrilled to be part of an organization that is at the front line of this advancement in technology."

Furthering NFI's commitment to adopting electric tractors, NFI has also installed electric charging stations within its Southern California campus, comprised of more than 15 million square feet of warehousing and distribution space. The 3PL provider's green initiatives also leverage Near Zero compressed natural gas trucks fueled with renewable energy, electric yard horses, and aerodynamic components.

"The State of Electric Trucks" is a panel developed in collaboration with the North American Council of Freight Efficiency and is part of their Run on Less Regional demonstration. Learn more about the event here.
