Avery Products Corporation Wins Legal Battle over Counterfeit Sellers

BREA, Calif., Oct. 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Avery Products Corporation announced a favorable judgment today in their Ohio State Court case (# CV 17 889577) filed in November 2017 against sellers of counterfeit Avery labels. The court entered a monetary judgment against both defendants and issued an injunction that bars the counterfeiters and anyone working with them from selling counterfeits or face contempt of court.

Avery discovered counterfeit goods being sold on Amazon in 2017 and took swift and decisive action to prevent rogue manufacturers from exploiting the brand's reputation as a world-leader in quality labels backed by innovative online software.

"Our Customer Care Center team noticed a sudden and unusual spike in returns on products that normally receive high ratings from consumers," said Mark Cooper, President of Avery Products Corporation. "We devote considerable energy to rigorous research, development and testing to ensure consumers receive the highest quality products possible, and the returns were inconsistent with our long-standing reputation."

The judgment found in favor of Avery on August 19, 2019. The court ruled that the defendants sold counterfeit products as third-party sellers on Amazon and were willfully infringing on the Avery trademark and engaging in deceptive trade practices.

"They were trading on the reputation we've built with more than 80 years of innovation and commitment to our customers' needs. We are very pleased with this judgment and will continue to be vigilant in protecting our trade customers and consumers, " added Cooper.
