Banc Intranets' New Site Search Tool Makes It Easier to Find Content and Manage Search Results
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn., Oct. 30, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Banc Intranets, a provider of secure, web-based enterprise content management solutions, has enhanced its site search tool to offer expanded capabilities to users and administrators.
The new search tool makes it easier for people to locate content on sites created with Banc Intranets' BancWorks® employee intranet and DirectorsLink® board portal products. It also gives administrators greater options for managing, presenting and optimizing search results. The recent site search updates not only facilitate the process of finding information, but it also helps generate more relevant and useful search results.
"We are excited about the new site search tool because it enables users to go straight to the information they are searching for, saving valuable time," said Banc Intranets Founder and CEO Mark Anderson. "This, in turn, helps to create a more positive experience for people as they access the content they need to perform their duties."
Specifically, the enhanced site search tool allows administrators to manage the modules that the system will search and the ranking of the searchable areas. They can turn off certain modules and adjust searchable areas to weight content versus name. Administrators can also use the available settings to:
-default the search to Relevance, Modified Date, or Title
-only show the top search returns
-add an eForm that users can submit to report information about searches they felt were unsuccessful
-set how long past search results are kept for reporting
-add/manage "stop words" that are ignored when the user enters a search term, which generates more pertinent results
As another functionality of enhanced site search, search results are a product of the settings made in administration and the search term used. So whenever a user clicks the Search button, the returns will be displayed based on the weighting that was set. Administrators can implement a number of steps to improve search results, including properly naming all content such as document names, page names and article names. They can also include tagging to highlight documents and eliminate duplicate documents to avoid potential confusion. In addition, administrators can employ different reports to manage how content can be improved based on users' approach to searching for information. For instance, the Search History Report shows the Search Term, Key Words, Results, User Searching, Date, and Suggestions for each search term entered.
The release of Banc Intranets' enhanced search tool is an important development, especially considering that workers waste a significant amount of time searching for information internally and externally. In fact, most employees spend a quarter of their time looking for information they need to do their jobs, according to a recent study by the Economist Intelligence Unit and Citrix Systems. Entitled "The Experience of Work: The Role of Technology in Productivity and Engagement," the study surveyed 1,100 senior executives, who also highlighted the importance of improving employee experience, productivity and engagement. Banc Intranets' search tool is designed to have a positive impact on these and other critical areas.
The enhanced site search tool is a key aspect of Banc Intranets' BancWorks' employee intranet and DirectorsLink board portal solutions, which provide organizations with secure, digital access to their information. BancWorks allows employees to view policies, procedures, products, services, pricing and corporate information. DirectorsLink gives board members convenient access to meeting materials, financial data and other critical information, enhancing their collaboration, decision making and governance.
