NuCurrent Named Most Innovative Company in Chicago by Crain's Chicago Business

CHICAGO, Oct. 31, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- NuCurrent, an industry leader in wireless power systems and technology development, announces that Crain's Chicago Business has named the company the #1 Most Innovative Company for 2019. The announcement - based on analysis conducted by third-party research firm Ocean Tomo - recognizes the overall quality of NuCurrent patents awarded in the previous year. The forty-four companies making this year's list were unveiled at the Crain's Innovative Breakfast held at the Chicago Club where NuCurrent CEO Jacob Babcock joined executives from Horizon Therapeutics and Pregis for the event's panel discussion.

"Innovation is one of our company values. It's critical to our success, and it also means that we're doing really interesting and valuable work." said Babcock. "Wireless power technology is rapidly advancing, and because we're at the forefront of it, we have many opportunities to develop intellectual property that moves the industry forward."

Founded in 2009 by a team of students at Northwestern University, NuCurrent develops technology for wireless charging and wireless power transfer applications. The company licenses its technology to Fortune 1000 companies in a variety of market segments including smartphones, wearables, consumer electronics, and industrial computers. Recently the company announced the release of a wireless charging design that expands the charging volume of a Qi-based phone charger threefold.

"At the start of every week, we highlight members of the team who embody our cultural values, and one of those is to be innovative," said Babcock. "Having that be part of our vision and values - and consistently reinforcing it with the team - helps drive a culture of innovation."

This is the second time NuCurrent has topped a Crain's innovation list. In 2015 the company was named #1 on Crain's Eureka Index, which recognized the company as having the most patents granted per capita. This company now has over 90 patents granted or pending globally.
