Nationally Recognized Pavement Management Expert Magdy Mikhail Joins AgileAssets

AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- AgileAssets Inc., a leading provider of transportation asset lifecycle management solutions, has announced that Magdy Mikhail, Ph.D., P.E., formerly of Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), has joined the software company. At AgileAssets, Mikhail will apply his decades of industry leadership to help other states, as well as cities and counties, benefit from his deep expertise in successfully managing road networks and improving agency operations.

While Director of Pavement Management at TxDOT, Mikhail led the department to modernize its business processes, analytics, and pavement management methods using AgileAssets® Pavement Analyst(TM), an enterprise pavement lifecycle management solution. TxDOT currently uses AgileAssets Pavement Analyst to manage and maintain the nation's largest state-owned road network--about 200,000 lane miles. As a result, TxDOT saves an estimated $20 million to $40 million per year in taxpayer funding while improving the condition, safety, and performance of its vast highway network. TxDOT achieves additional cost reductions and operational efficiencies using AgileAssets® Maintenance Manager(TM), an enterprise maintenance management solution that streamlines field work and asset inspections for smarter scheduling, data collection, and reporting.

"Magdy brings a deep understanding of transportation agency challenges from an engineering, asset management, and government stakeholder perspective," said John Perreault, Vice President of Sales at AgileAssets. "Drawing on the success he built at TxDOT, he will be able to share how other agencies can adopt strategies and solutions to save time, money, and lives using advanced analytics to make better-informed decisions."

"I am excited for this opportunity to continue to advance the transportation industry," said Mikhail. "After many years as a very satisfied AgileAssets customer, I want to leverage what I learned at TxDOT to help other agencies achieve similar success and savings--no matter the size of their road network." He added, "I know from experience that implementing an AgileAssets solution can help an agency optimize funds, meet performance goals, and improve short- and long-term planning."

During his tenure at TxDOT, Mikhail oversaw the use of AgileAssets® Pavement Analyst(TM) to implement automated pavement data collection, develop asset management plans to meet FAST Act requirements, and optimize available pavement management funds to create effective 4-year plans.

Mikhail remains an active leader in the transportation research community at the national level. He chairs the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Standing Committee on Surface Properties and Vehicle Interaction and is a member of TRB's Standing Committee on Pavement Management Systems.
