MITRE Appoints Craig Ackerman to New Role of Vice President for Operations and Transformation

MITRE named Craig Ackerman to the new role of vice president for operations and transformation, a new organization comprised of the business transformation program, corporate real estate, contracts and acquisition management, and a newly formed operational risk management function.

“As we continue to grow our team and build strong internal capabilities at MITRE, Craig’s track record of leading strategic transformation with agility and developing the talent to facilitate adoption across the enterprise will be a real asset,” said Usha Chaudhary, senior vice president for corporate operations and chief transformation officer. “He will leverage his experience managing diverse functions, including operations, finance and accounting, HR, procurement, IT, and sales, to drive engagement as we continue to transform our business functions and enhance our services to internal and external customers.”

Ackerman is a U.S. Army veteran with more than 25 years of experience leading operations, business transformation, and shared services teams. He brings expertise in rapidly assessing organizational capabilities, team effectiveness, and key processes to execute innovative solutions, expand operating capabilities, and achieve strategic outcomes.

Ackerman most recently served as a principal in the federal practice at Chazey Partners, a global advisory firm, working with federal and local government clients to develop more efficient service delivery operations. He also served as the firm’s global head of robotic process automation, helping clients harness the evolution of process automation tools to improve efficiency, productivity, control, and compliance.

His previous roles include senior leadership positions at Day & Zimmerman, Parsons Brinckerhoff, and SAIC. Early in his career, Ackerman was a captain in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and his MBA from Boston University.
