ROCKVILLE, Md., Feb. 26, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Via Satellite, the premier publication providing essential news and expert business analysis on the global satellite communications marketplace, including current and evolving applications, infrastructure issues, technology, and business and regulatory developments around the world, announced today the official nominees for both the 2019 Satellite Executive of the Year Award and the 2019 Satellite Technology of the Year Award.

The Satellite Executive of the Year nominees were chosen based on nominations submitted by leaders in the industry and chosen for their durable contributions made to the global satellite market including innovative technologies, best practices, important services, or any combination of these.

Nominees include: Peter Beck, CEO & Founder, Rocket Lab; Steve Collar, CEO, SES; Tim Ellis, CEO and Co-Founder, Relativity Space; Masood M. sharif Mahmood, CEO, Yahsat; Eric Sung, CEO, Intellian; and Kathy Warden, Chairman, CEO & President, Northrop Grumman Corporation. "The honoree for the 2019 Satellite Executive of the Year will join the ranks of the best of the best. Last year, Matt Desch, CEO of Iridium made history by becoming the first two-time winner of the Award," said Mark Holmes. "The list of previous winners reads like a who's who in the satellite sector. Who will join this very exclusive club in 2020?"

This marks the second year of Via Satellite's Satellite Technology of the Year award, recognizing a single technology, innovation, or concept, as well as the organization responsible for its development and realization. Technologies were evaluated on their ability to meet significant market demand; create clear, significant cost-savings or technical efficiencies; make a profit; improve quality of life; disrupt the market; and demonstrate a scientific breakthrough.

2018 Satellite Technology of the Year nominees include: Forsway - Forsway Xtend; GetSAT - Nano Sat-H; Lacuna Space - Transmission of a LoRaWAN Message over Satellite; Orbital Insight - Orbital Insight GO; Satellogic - Dedicated Satellite Constellation; ThinKom - Multi-Beam Phased Array Gateway Solution. You can find additional information on each nominee here.

"Last year, we introduced a new award, Satellite Technology of the Year (STOTY), an award that recognizes the impact of a specific technology that is making a difference in our industry. In 2019, Intellian deservedly became the first winners of this Award," said Mark Holmes. "We have a terrific set of nominees and we await to see which company become our second winners of the STOTY Award."
