Cloud Native Computing Foundation Announces Splunk as Gold Member

SAN FRANCISCO, March 12, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cloud Native Computing Foundation® (CNCF®), which builds sustainable ecosystems for cloud native software, today announced that Splunk has upgraded its membership to gold.

Splunk, provider of the Data-to-Everything(TM) Platform, originally joined CNCF as a silver member in 2017 and is an active user of, and contributor to, several open source technologies. This includes CNCF projects like Kubernetes, Prometheus, Cortex, and OpenTelemetry.

"At Splunk, we live and breathe cloud native technology every day, from the projects we use to the solutions we create," said Spiros Xanthos, VP, Product Management for Application Management at Splunk. "We are excited to further increase our commitment to CNCF and will continue to contribute to CNCF's projects, working together to provide the community with the best options for monitoring and observability."

Last year, Splunk acquired Omnition, which is a founding and active contributor to the OpenTelemetry project, as well as SignalFx. Splunk also generously sponsored CNCF's diversity scholarship program for KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America. This fund provides assistance to members from traditionally underrepresented and/or marginalized groups who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend the event for financial reasons.

"As cloud native computing grows, it's more important than ever that organizations are willing to contribute back - not only to the open source projects but to making the community a place where everyone can be involved," said Dan Kohn, executive director of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation. "We are very pleased that Splunk has decided to increase its membership and commitment to the CNCF community and our projects."
