Toyota of Decatur prepares future buyers for the 2020 Highlander Hybrid to arrive

DECATUR, Ala., March 20, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Competition within the global crossover SUV segment continues to get more intense with each coming model year. Toyota's 2020 class of crossover SUVs certainly fits that bill with the redesigned Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid leading the way. While both versions of the 2020 Highlander were redesigned, the hybrid model makes a strong case for getting more attention from the manufacturer's engineers. According to early marketing materials released by Toyota, the 2020 Highlander Hybrid offers best-in-class fuel economy scores among its crossover SUV brethren as well as the largest multimedia display in the segment. Additionally, the 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid joins several other of the automaker's vehicles in being equipped with the latest connectivity technology available today.

When the 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid finally arrives at the Toyota of Decatur showroom, customers will see a streamlined powertrain menu. A naturally aspirated 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine will be under the hood and it will be mated to a continuously variable transmission. It will make 186 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque.

While the 2020 Highlander Hybrid might not produce as much horsepower as its newest rival, the electrified Toyota crossover SUV will have a peak towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. The rival vehicle's manufacturer doesn't even list a towing capacity on its spec sheet.

All available trim grades of the 2020 Highlander Hybrid will be able to achieve at least 35 miles per gallon in the city and around 34 miles per gallon on the highway.

As impressive as the performance specs and fuel economy scores of the 2020 Highlander Hybrid are, the area where it really shines in comparison to its top competitor is interior space. The 2020 Highlander Hybrid retains the original version's three rows of seats that can accommodate seven or eight passengers, depending on trim grade.

The previously referenced rival only offers two rows of seats and a five-passenger seating capacity. Furthermore, the 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid can be configured to offer up to 84.3 cubic-feet of cargo volume.
