Avid Collector Announces His Search For Original Boxing Style 1958 Alan Freed Big Beat Akron Armory Boxing Style Concert Posters.

SAN FRANCISCO, April 22, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Avid collector, Andrew Hawley from Vintage Rock Posters, announces his search for original boxing style 1958 Alan Freed Big Beat Akron Armory boxing style concert posters. Alan Freed coined the term Rock n' Roll on his Moondog House radio show broadcasted from Cleveland. According to Hawley, "Alan Freed pioneered the popularity of Rock n' Roll by playing the music on a high powered AM station reaching audiences across northern Ohio, Ontario, Canada, western New York, western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Before then, most R&B music aired on low powered city radio stations. The show was hip and exposed his audience to this new easy to dance to music, and its popularity soared. Freed parlayed his radio success by promoting the Big Beat concert tour that brought Rock n' Roll to audiences across the Upper Midwest."

Hawley continues, "Buddy Holly and other top acts such as Jerry Lee Lewis, and Chuck Berry played on the Big Beat tours. Murray Printing Company printed the 17 x 22-inch concert poster blanks on heavy cardboard. Venue information was printed on the top of the blank. Below that was a picture of Alan Freed and his name with arrows on each side. The arrows prevented printing venue information over Freed's picture. The layout incorporated pictures of each artist with names of their popular songs. For the Akron concert, the layout used dark blue rather than black as the background color."
