Meller Optics New Sapphire Windows Feature Mohs 9 Hardness to Protect Gimbaled Cameras & Sensors

PROVIDENCE, R.I., May 13, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Meller Optics, Inc. has introduced custom sapphire windows that can withstand fast moving dirt, sand, chemicals, and other particulates and can be coated to meet salt fog requirements.

Meller Sapphire Windows feature Mohs 9 hardness (second only to diamond) to enable them to withstand fast moving dirt, sand, and saltwater, and can be custom fabricated to match precise design requirements. Ideal for providing front surface protection in gimbaled system, they are available with multi-spectral anti-reflective coatings that can meet salt fog requirements.

Manufactured in sizes from 0.25" to 10" dia. with varying thicknesses, Meller Sapphire Windows can include stepped edges and elliptical edge shaping, holes, slots, and wedges. Providing flatness held to 1/10th wave in the visible and less than 2 arc sec. in/in parallelism, surface finishes can range from 60-40 to 40-20 scratch-dig, depending upon configuration.
