New Tuition-Free Full-Time Online School Approved to Serve Missouri Families Statewide

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., June 17, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Missouri Connections Academy, a new full-time statewide online public school, has been authorized by the Ozark School District to serve students in grades K-12 throughout the state in the upcoming 2020-21 school year. The school is currently enrolling for the fall.

"We are excited to announce that Missouri Connections Academy will offer students a high-quality learning option to students who need a personalized, flexible education due to academic or nonacademic needs, especially in a time when there may be a lot of uncertainty about what schools will look like in the upcoming academic year," said Lynsie Hunt, school leader for Missouri Connections Academy. "Connections Academy has a longstanding, successful history of supporting students' academic and emotional needs in an online setting and we look forward to offering families a new school option with a quality partner they can trust."

Missouri Connections Academy will offer students throughout the state an individualized approach to education in a safe, supportive online learning environment. Curriculum, from the nationally recognized, award-winning Connections Academy® program, meets rigorous state education standards, and will include core classes as well as engaging electives, honors and AP courses, and Career Technical Education (CTE) classes. Connections Academy currently supports more than 40 schools across the country and has been providing full-time online school and helping students thrive in a digital setting for more than 20 years.

Learning from home or anywhere there is an Internet connection, students will work closely with state certified teachers specially trained in online instruction. Teachers will develop individualized learning plans that help to nurture each student's strengths while providing additional support in areas of need.

Students will also benefit from real-time feedback and customized schedules, ensuring each student can learn in a way that's best suited for them. Outside of schoolwork, students can make friends and socialize through numerous online clubs and activities and at in-person field trips and school events.

An online school approach can serve a wide range of students, including those who are seeking a safe learning environment, are ahead or behind in the classroom, are in need of a flexible schedule, and those who need more individualized attention or live in isolated rural settings. A parent, or another adult "Learning Coach," helps to monitor student progress in the home. Parents and guardians who become Learning Coaches will be given support to help their student succeed.

As a public school, there are no fees or tuition to attend and all students are required to take the same state assessments as students in traditional public schools.

Enrollment for the 2020-21 school year is currently open, and Missouri Connections Academy is offering virtual information sessions for families interested in learning more about the school.
