CHICAGO, Aug. 25, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- LafargeHolcim in the US today announced that it received 75 awards from the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) Excellence in Safety Awards for its ready-mix concrete plants across the nation. Of the 75 awards, 73 were in the Gold category and two were in the Bronze.

"Health and safety are embedded in everything we do," said Jay M. Moreau, CEO of US Aggregates and Construction Materials at LafargeHolcim. "This level of recognition from the NRMCA is in keeping with the high standards we set for ourselves throughout the country."

The NRMCA Safety Contest benchmarks plant performance against national reporting and chooses awardees who lead the industry. The awards are broken down into Gold, Silver and Bronze tiers based on performance.

Gold - Incident rate equal to zero

Silver - Incident rate greater than zero and equal to or less than 1.95

Bronze - Incident rate greater than 1.95 and less than 3.9

The ultimate goal of the program is to encourage safe workplace practices at ready-mixed concrete plants across the US. LafargeHolcim won seven percent of the safety awards in this year's contest, continuing to prove its leadership in an industry estimated to include more than 7,500 plants in the US.

"The NRMCA Safety Contest was established to recognize ready mixed concrete plants with outstanding safety records and to see so many LafargeHolcim plants being honored is a testament to the outstanding safety culture that exists within the company," added NRMCA President Michael Philipps.

NRMCA is celebrating 90 years of representing the producers of ready mixed concrete and the companies that provide materials, equipment and support to the industry. It conducts education, training, promotion, research, engineering, safety, environmental, technological, lobbying and regulatory programs.
