Lakhani Scholars Triples Recipients for 2020, Announces Early Admissions Successes

NEW YORK, Dec. 16, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Lakhani Coaching (http://www.lakhanicoaching.com), a globally renowned education program that helps students become more competitive college applicants by harnessing their passions and maximizing their academic growth, today announced that three students will receive free services through the 2020 Lakhani Scholars, tripling the number of recipients from each of the past two years.

"We have a goal of serving at least 100 students - 50% of our roster - on full scholarship by 2025, and the expansion has officially begun," said Founder and CEO Hafeez Lakhani. "We know there is a wealth gap; that many well-deserving and highly intelligent and community-minded students simply don't have the means to hire a college admissions coach, so we are doing what we can to help as many as possible."

The scholarship, which recently achieved 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, awards high-achieving low-income students with one-on-one elite college coaching over the course of three years, amounting in $10,000 worth of SAT/ACT prep, admissions help, character coaching, financial aid application guidance, mentorship and more.

The 2020 recipients are:

Rachel Nacarino, Miami, FL - Rachel emigrated from Peru in 2016, and lost her father to the coronavirus in 2020. Her mother works hard cleaning at a restaurant, and Rachel has remarkably taken her education into her own hands. Having graduated through the ESOL--English for Speakers of Other Languages--system, Rachel founded Uli Smiles, an organization of 45+ volunteers tutoring and mentoring ESOL students across three schools in Miami. Through an AP Capstone project, Rachel launched an online help group for pregnant teens, and also contributes to Fridays for Future, her school volleyball team, Science Honor Society, and Girls Who Code. She aspires to become an engineer one day.

Hayley McCombs, Pompano Beach, FL - Hayley is one of nine children in a single earner household and actively helps care for her six younger siblings. Alongside chipping in financially by cleaning pools over the summer, Hayley has cultivated over 37,000 Instagram followers and launched her own cosmetics business, including making some products by hand and garnering over 100 orders in her first six months. As President of her school's Key Club, Hayley is active in community service and runs track and field. Academically, she maintains a 3.97 weighted GPA, taking special pride in her science courses, and aspires to one day become a Neurosurgeon.

Ammar Tofafarosh, Roslyn, NY - Ammar is the son of immigrants from Surat, India, and will be the first in his family to attend a 4-year college. Having enrolled in seven AP courses as of junior year, Ammar is committed to challenging himself academically, with a focus on Computer Science. As a leader, he is involved in Coding Club, Conservation Club, and Medical Explorers Club. During the pandemic, he led his mosque's youth group in raising over $3,000 and 660 pounds of school supply donations for over 500 students in need, multiplying his impact through partnerships with local BJ's, Staples, and Costco stores. Ammar aspires to attend a top tier university to one day engage technology to solve humanitarian problems.

Lakhani Coaching is also pleased to announce that several of its clients have been accepted early decision to various undergraduate and graduate degree programs at Harvard, Stanford, Columbia and Yale, and the roster is expected to grow as additional letters arrive over the next two weeks. Last year's Lakhani Scholar, Fernanda Padilla Colin, was accepted earlier this month with a full financial aid scholarship to Rice University in Houston, where she plans to study immigration law.

Contributions to Lakhani Scholars are 100% tax deductible and can include corporate, foundation, individual or stock donations. To learn more about the program, including how to donate, visit https://www.lakhanicoaching.com/scholarship.
