Roto-Rooter's Phoenix Branch Helps Make a Difference This Holiday Season During their Second Annual "Giving Thanks Food Drive"
PHOENIX, Dec. 29, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Roto-Rooter, North America's largest provider of plumbing and drain repair services, recently held their second annual Giving Thanks Food Drive to benefit community food banks and pet shelters. Each year, Roto-Rooter locations, teams, and individual employees compete to collect the greatest number of non-perishable goods to help those in need.
This year, Roto-Rooter's Phoenix branch collected 725 items and was a top performer among U.S. locations, based on the percentage of donations when weighed with their monthly job count. In addition, Phoenix technician Travis Rayburn finished 20th nationwide in the individual category, gathering 124 donated items during the month of November.
"We are very proud of Travis and the entire Phoenix team. They really stepped up to support our community food banks, which are struggling to provide for others this year due to COVID-19," says Mark Vaughters, General Manager. Roto-Rooter's Providence, RI branch and El Paso, TX contractor location collected the largest percentages of donations this year. Top performers Alfredo Salas (El Paso, TX) and Del Trahan (St. Louis, MO) collected the most of any technicians across the company, with a combined total of 945 donations. Roto-Rooter's corporate headquarters also pitched in, collecting an impressive 2,013 items.
Nationwide, Roto-Rooter service technicians collected 52,630 donated food items, which amounts to 9,000 more cans than last year's drive. To give some perspective, this is equivalent to over 49,000 pounds (24.5 tons) of food, or enough to feed more than 24 adults 3 full meals a day for an entire year.
During the past two years, Roto-Rooter has collected more than 96,916 items for local food banks and pet shelters. That's 97,000 pounds (48.5 tons!) of food.
