VTEX Jumpstarts Global Ecommerce Growth for Footwear Icon Payless

NEW YORK, Jan. 26, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- VTEX, the world's first and only marketplace and commerce solution delivering rapid time-to-revenue, today announced its partnership with footwear retailer, Payless, to support the iconic brand's global digital growth.

With a heightened focus on implementing an overarching omnichannel approach for the brand, VTEX now powers commerce for Payless in the United States, as well as the Latin American market including Guatemala, Ecuador and El Salvador. Additional Latin American webstores in Honduras and Peru are slated to go live early this year.

Aimed at offering a superior shopping experience to mirror the unparalleled style and value Payless already provides for its customers, Payless LATAM initially plans to ship 100% of its orders from their brick-and-mortar store locations, therefore drastically reducing order delivery times.

"We are betting on the omnichannel approach, because we want to take advantage of our 450 stores with exceptional locations. Many people select the shoes in ecommerce, but prefer to go to the store to try them on, where they tend to buy additional items," Justo Fuentes, CEO of Payless, LATAM.

Payless, which operates 700 stores around the world, has been providing value-priced footwear to consumers for more than 60 years. Now, the retailer is taking a step further by adding big brands into the winning formula. Focusing on signing deals with instantly recognizable brands, Payless plans to bridge the trust gap between customers and ecommerce.

The company plans on exclusively dedicating 30% of its collections to ecommerce, further encouraging customers to buy online. Payless also intends to diversify its product offering, ensuring a wide range of items no matter the season and no matter the market trends. With an upgraded brand portfolio, Payless has its eyes set on creating a digital store with up to 10,000 product lines, a far cry from the mere 800 lines a physical store can manage. From there on, the only way to go is up.

"Payless is making a comeback in a big way, and we're proud that our commerce solutions are helping drive growth for an iconic brand in unprecedented times," said Amit Shah, U.S. general manager and chief strategy officer at VTEX. "With commerce evolving faster than it ever has, it's important for brands to operate more efficiently, scale quickly and pivot at any moment -- and this is what VTEX helps Payless do."
