Notice of a Data Incident
Eastside Union School District ("Eastside") announces a data privacy incident that may have impacted individuals' information.
Eastside recently experienced a data security incident and promptly initiated an investigation which included engaging third-party specialists to assist with understanding the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation revealed that certain information within Eastside's systems was subject to unauthorized access on or around May 29, 2023. Upon discovery, Eastside began a comprehensive and thorough review of the data to determine the specific type of information that was affected and the individuals to whom it pertained. On or around January 11, 2024, Eastside identified limited information relating to individuals may have been impacted and worked to confirm sufficient contact information to notify potentially affected individuals. The types of information potentially impacted included first and last name, together with one or more of the following data elements: date of birth, driver's license/state issued identification number, financial account information, medical information, health insurance information, Social Security number and/or education related information.
In an abundance of caution, Eastside is offering potentially impacted individuals access to credit monitoring and identity protection services. If individuals have questions about this incident or would like to confirm if they may have been affected, they may contact Eastside's dedicated assistance line which can be reached at 1-833-763-2468 Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time (excluding major U.S. holidays). Individuals are encouraged to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft by regularly reviewing account statements and credit reports to look for suspicious activity and to detect errors. Individuals can further educate themselves regarding identity theft, fraud alerts, credit freezes, and steps to protect their personal information by contacting the credit reporting bureaus, the Federal Trade Commission ("FTC"), or their state Attorney General.
