Slim CD, Inc. Provides Notice of Data Event

Coral Springs, FL - September 6, 2024 - Slim CD, Inc. ("Slim CD") is providing notice of a recent event that may affect the privacy of information related to certain credit card holders whose payments were processed by Slim CD's electronic payment gateway. Slim CD is a processing gateway that handles electronic payments, including credit card payments for US and Canadian based merchants. Although Slim CD presently has no evidence that any such information has been used to commit identity theft or fraud, Slim CD is providing information about the event, Slim CD's response, and resources available to individuals to help protect their information from possible misuse.

In June 2024, Slim CD became aware of suspicious activity in its computer environment. Upon learning of the activity, Slim CD launched an investigation to determine the full nature and scope of the activity. Slim CD engaged, through counsel, a third-party specialist to investigate the event. The investigation identified unauthorized system access between August 17, 2023, and June 15, 2024. That access may have enabled an unauthorized actor to view or obtain certain credit card information between June 14, 2024, and June 15, 2024. Slim CD reviewed the accessible credit card information to identify the potentially affected cardholders so that it could notify those individuals. The review recently concluded, and upon completion, Slim CD worked to notify potentially affected individuals.

The types of information that was potentially affected include cardholder names, addresses, credit card information, and expiration dates.

Slim CD takes the confidentiality, privacy, and security of information in its possession very seriously. Upon discovery of this event, Slim CD quickly commenced a thorough investigation and took steps to implement additional safeguards and review our policies and procedures relating to data privacy and security. Slim CD is providing notice of this event to potentially impacted individuals and to regulators, where required.

Slim CD sincerely regrets any inconvenience this event may have caused. Although Slim CD is unaware of any misuse of information impacted by this event, in accordance with best practices, individuals are encouraged to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft and fraud by reviewing account statements, explanation of benefits, and free credit reports for unexpected activity or errors over the next 12 to 24 months. Any questionable activity detected should be reported to the associated insurance company, health care provider, or financial institution immediately.
